The Central-European Intensive Course of the Batthyány Lajos College offers a multidisciplinary discussion forum and opportunity to start researches for young people. We are waiting for young students to apply from all over Europe. Noted experts and professors help to discuss the common issues of Central-Europe, and participants' research activity will be promoted by tutorial consultations. The participants are encouraged to write papers with this assistance in the tutorial period, and our college will publish these papers in a volume. At the end of the tutorial period, participants may re-assemble at the Summer School in July 2008. The intensive course will also include cultural events and trips to historical places.
The honorary patronage of the Course is professor Mihály Bihari, the President of the Hungarian Constitutional Court.

 

We offer the following lectures & research topics (detailed later):

European studies (EU institutions, policies, EU-law, etc.), neighborhood and regional policies, business management in Central Europe, the CE parliamentary and political systems, Central-European societies, constitutional transition towards the rule of law, EURO-dilemmas, European Constitution, cultural issues and features...

 

Draft of the program schedule:

  • 24-29 February 2008 : Intensive Course in Győr
  • March - April 2008 : Tutorial Period (optional)
  • 1. May 2008 : Deadline for finishing the articles (optional)
  • End of July : Batthyany Summer School in Győr (optional)

 

ECTS credits are offered:

- 3 ECTS for participating at the II Central European Intensive Course
- 3 ECTS for finishing the article in time (at least 15 pages, and acceptable quality)
- 3 ECTS for participating at the IV Batthyany Summer School 2008

 

ITEMS OF EXPENSES OF THE INTENSIVE COURSE:
The college will undertake:
- lectures;
- accomodation and full boarding (3 meals a day in a restaurant at the campus);
- facilities for studies;
- trips and other cultural programmes

 

Participants pay:
- tarvelling costs to Győr, and insurance;
- registration fee : EUR 100 - for non-EU citizens: EUR 80 (paid in cash at the registration)
(those who come back to the Summer School will get a Eur 20 discount from the Summer School reg. fee)

 

Application:
We are waiting for young students (PhD students as well) from all over Europe. The applications shall include:

  • letter of motivation, that may include a short concept of the research,
  • application form (you can download it here),
  • letter of recommendation from a professor
