About the Institute
Our well being, wealth and progress ultimately depend on people's
ability to invent, create and manufacture the things needed to
improve and maintain our quality of life. The Institute
contributes to this process by providing a wide range of courses,
which provide students not only with the technical competence but
also the interpersonal skills they need to pursue worthwhile and
satisfying careers.
The six departments in the Institute run accredited degree and
diploma courses which make extensive use of continuous
assessment, group projects, individual projects and self-learning
packages to develop personal skills such as creativity,
confidence, problem solving, decision making, co-operation and
communication.
To keep the courses as up-to-date and relevant as possible,
the Institute maintains strong links with industry through
research, consultancy, industrial visits and visiting
lectureships and through its long-standing commitment to
industrial placement training. Research plays an important part
in the work of the Institute and students will be educated at the
leading edge of technology in their disciplines.
The Institute of Information Technology and Electrical
Engineering is striving to provide well balanced educational
opportunities of such flexibility that everyone who wants to
pursue an engineering or computing career, no matter what their
age or sex, should find an appropriate pathway to success.
Basic mission of the Institute:
Education in such knowledge which makes students capable of

continuously developed curriculum balances theory with practical
examples. The courses in the Faculty are designed to prepare
students for a wide range of engineering careers in commerce and
industry. Flexibility is built into the courses with a choice of
many routes through the degree programme.
