Type: Coryphantha echinoidea (Quehl) Britton & Rose.

Definition: modified Protomammillaria-areole-type (ZIMMERMAN 1985) with an
abrupt transition from a completely groove-less sterile condition with
preaxillary meristematic activity (glands) to areoles having full-fledged
fertile areolar grooves, flowers appearing between the preaxillary gland and
the axil. Cortex watery.

Type: San Francisco, SLP, M.Wohlschlager WM 223, Botanisches Institut der
Universität Wien (WU).

Lectotype: Illustration in first description as cited above (designated
here).

Syn. Coryphantha daemenoceras Jaumavei Fric, Möllers Dtsch. Gartenz. 23:6,
1925-26 nom.nud.

Basionym: Mammillaria glanduligera Otto (in Dietrich), Allg. Gartenzeitung
16:298, 1848.

Syn.: Echinocactus glanduligerus (Otto) Poselger, Allg. Gartenzeitung
